The Swaida American Society (“SAS”, “we”, “us”) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization (EIN 85-0864320), 4967 Windpower Way, Ellicott City, MD 21043, USA. This policy explains what personal information we collect through swaidaamericans.com and our communications, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Information we collect
- Account information: your name, email address, username, password (stored encrypted), phone number and mailing address when you create an account or update your profile.
- Membership and event information: your membership plan and dates, and the tickets and activities you register for.
- Family information you choose to provide: names, relationships and years or dates of birth of household members, used to register them for events and to apply the correct age-based ticket prices.
- Payment information: payments are processed by Stripe. Card numbers are entered on Stripe’s secure form and are never stored on our website; we receive only the payment outcome and the last digits of the card.
- Donations: the amount, date and your contact details, so we can acknowledge your gift.
- Messages you send us through our contact and registration forms.
- Technical information: your IP address and browser type, used to keep the site secure (including Cloudflare’s bot protection and our security software) and to prevent fraud.
How we use your information
- To manage your account, membership, event registrations and donations.
- To process payments and send receipts and order confirmations.
- To send you news about SAS programs, conventions and events. You can unsubscribe from any email at any time using the link at the bottom of the message.
- To send text messages if you have opted in to receive them (see “Text messages” below).
- To keep our website secure and to meet our legal and tax obligations as a nonprofit.
We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information.
Who we share it with
We share information only with service providers who help us run SAS, and only as needed for that purpose:
- Stripe – payment processing.
- Brevo – sending our email newsletters and, if you opt in, text messages.
- Google Workspace – sending account and order emails.
- Hostinger – website hosting, and Cloudflare – website security and delivery.
- Zoom and Facebook – only if you choose to join an online event we host there; their own privacy policies apply.
We may also disclose information when required by law.
All the above categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information won't be shared with any third parties.
Text messages (SMS)
If you opt in to receive text messages from SAS, we will send you messages about SAS conventions, events and organizational updates. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to stop receiving messages at any time, or HELP for help. Consent to receive text messages is not a condition of membership or of any purchase.
No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging opt-in data and consent will not be shared with any third parties.
Cookies
Our website uses cookies that are needed for it to work, such as keeping you signed in, remembering your cart and language, and protecting against abuse. We do not use advertising cookies.
How long we keep it
We keep account, membership and payment records for as long as you have an account and as required for nonprofit accounting and tax purposes. You may ask us to delete your account; we will remove what we are not legally required to keep.
Your choices
- View and update your details in My Account.
- Unsubscribe from emails using the link in any email, and from text messages by replying STOP.
- Ask us to access, correct or delete your information by contacting us.
Children
Family members’ details, including children’s, are provided by a parent or guardian for event registration. We do not knowingly collect information directly from children under 13.
