Local Community
Our advanced programmes multiply the impact of your donations — three folds, three effects.
From one village in April 2023 to 101 teams across 92 localities today. Since the start of 2024 those teams have reached our people at home in more than 126,000 cases, funded by about $391,000 in grants from your donations.
Three folds — the same dollar, working three times
- The grant itself. $391,000 paid for the service and its medicines, and became wages and work for 701 people from the localities themselves.
- The international match it unlocked. The programme’s design, its transparency and its documented results attracted $429,000 in international grants — $355,000 of it straight to the localities, the rest to training and follow-up.
- The value it created. An economic study of July 2025 to July 2026 valued the service at about $683,000. Setting aside SAS’s own documented $261,402, so diaspora money is not counted twice, leaves $421,286 of value to families and the community.
Three effects — one programme, three kinds of change
- Assistance. Emergency medicines and round-the-clock home care, reaching acute illness before it becomes disability or death, and serving chronic and bedridden patients who cannot reach a clinic.
- Development. Training and continuous support for nursing, social and administrative staff, so the expertise stays inside the community rather than leaving it.
- Building. Local teams, advisory bodies and governance that outlast any one project — which is how an idea on paper became about 15,000 home gardens, at limited administrative cost, because the local structure already existed.
That is what an advanced programme buys: not relief that ends when the money does, but local capacity that is still there for the next need.
